Buntin Group Work for United Methodist Communications Wins National Advertising Award
Nashville, Tenn. (June 8, 2009) - The Buntin Group earned top honors at the national 2009 ADDY Awards Show for its work with Nashville-based United Methodist Communications, the global communications agency for the United Methodist Church. Sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the ADDYs is the largest advertising competition in the country, with more than 60,000 entries annually.
The award was given for the "Unsilencing A Voice" brochure which leads people through the church's eight-year journey to reconnect and reach the soul of "seekers" through its "Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors." campaign. The work was initiated to fill a special mission of the campaign, which began in 2000, and dramatizes the bold initiatives taken by the United Methodist Church and its presence at times of world pain and suffering. The Twin Towers, Hurricane Katrina and the fights against AIDS and malaria are highlighted, along with the healing and compassion brought by the people of the United Methodist Church.
The piece was originally entered at the local level winning "Best of Show" honors, and next moved to the Southeast regional competition where it took home a prestigious Judges' Choice Award before moving on to the national competition.
More than 1,500 entries were judged at the national level of the competition with 100 Golds and 175 Silvers awarded. The ADDYs were presented on Saturday, June 6 in Arlington, Va. in conjunction with the AAF National Conference.
The United Methodist Church has more than 11.5 members internationally and is in mission in more than 125 countries.
With over $144 million in annualized billings, The Buntin Group is the largest brand communications agency in Tennessee and among the top 50 independent agencies in the country.
